About The Book
The Only Bowl and the Last Bowl of Salty Pork Porridge
Inspired by a cherished childhood memory, this heartwarming children’s book tells the playful and unforgettable story of two sisters, a bowl of homemade salty pork porridge, and the power of imagination.
When Sally Poppe was a stubborn 9-year-old who refused to eat, her older sister Helen came up with a clever and creative story to convince her otherwise. Holding a spoonful of their mother’s salty pork porridge, Helen declared:
“Believe it or not, I have the only bowl and the last bowl of salty pork porridge here.”
Those magical words turned an ordinary meal into a moment Sally would remember forever.
Filled with warmth, family love, humor, and childhood imagination, this story celebrates the special bond between siblings and the little moments that stay with us for a lifetime.
Written for all the stubborn little kids — and the families who love them — this charming story invites young readers into a world where creativity can make even a simple bowl of porridge unforgettable.

This book turned out better than I expected. Each poem feels like a mirror, guiding me back to myself. It’s more than poetry. It’s a journey of quiet discovery and gentle self-realization.
